Day 9 Grande Hotel Nuwara Eliya

This hotel was at the very 'top' of the island , some 6000 feet above sea level .. with a temperature to match .. they called it little England ... right at the centre of the team growing area and the only place where they sold really good coffee that I had seen up til that time... This hotel was orginally the resident of one Mr Edward Barnes ... the country residence of the Governor of Ceylon.

Really friendly locals .. Racing driver and Strawberry grower ( rubber engineer ) !! His sone was with them undertaking his 3 monthly pilgrimage back to the old country from Richmond
